The IPv4 is a 32 bit IP address, which means it has 256 bytes of information.The IPv4 came to be in the 1970's, and became widely popular in the 1980's and 1990's. Serving as the only internet protocol that allowed connectivity to other devices, this was the creme de la creme of technological achievement that was accessible to everyone at the time.
The IPv6
The Ipv6 is a 128 bit variant of IP addresses, which means it has 1,024 bytes of information.

The difference between the dotted-decimal and hexadecimal notations is that dotted decimal goes from values 0 to 9 using the symbols 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9 to represent their relative numerical value; yet hexadecimal goes from 0 to 15, where 0 through 9 is represented by their relative number and 10 to 15 are represented as A to F - A(10), B(11), C(12), D(13), E(14), and F(15).
